Sometimes I think that we forget what worship really is. We kind of confine it to a short little happy time of songs on Sunday, and we have had a good “worship experience” when we get this emotional high. I am pretty sure that is not what it is. I do think that music can be a big part of worship, but we are supposed to always be worshipping, no matter what we do. We get too caught up in I don’t like the music because it’s too traditional, or I don’t like it because I didn’t hear the organ enough, or I just plain don’t like music. How about we take all the music away? Can you still worship God? Some people may not think so, but it is important that we don’t mix our emotional feelings with what worship is. Sure, the emotional is good, but is not really what worship is. Where does all this come from you ask? Well, I went to mass on Sunday. This was the first mass I ever went to. Actually, it was the first time I have been to a liturgical church. It was awesome. On a side note, I could now see where A New Kind of Christian was coming from when it said that there probably would be a longing to go back to liturgy, saints, holy days, and tradition in the post modern church. Now back to music. The music was definitely not what I would call “my ideal worship music,” but that was ok. It actually hit me kind of hard to actually get a good grasp on the fact that music isn’t everything. Sometimes I forget that. I kind of want to take a step back and see what happens “when the music fades, and all is stripped away..” It is really nice to take a step back to see what other people do when the come together for a time of corporate worship. I know I will always love the music aspect of worship, and more contemporary music is what I like, but I can get that anywhere. We just need to start utilizing other forms of worship more. Please add to this if you can. I know that there is a lot more to be said.

Curiosity killed the cat

This video is absolutely hilarious. I love it. Please note that I do not condone the behavior in the video. It is absolutly awful yet so amazing at the same time. Don't think I am posting this video because of my hatred of cats. True, they are definately not my favorite animal..but I don't wish them to die. The reason why I have a dislike for them is becaue I absolutely can't breath when I am around them. The very great thing about this video is that the good Dr. Redden from Cumberland College is the one who introduced me to it when I went to visit Cumberland last spring. He was the best teacher ever! Alright, enough babbling, watch the stinkin video!

This is funny...funny...funny... you can take this test, and it will tell you what religion you mostly match up to. I am not sure mine works out for me. I think i would consider myself more of a mainline to liberal Christian, and a lot of people I have read about have been told they match up with the Quakers. Apparantly, I match up pretty closely with the Hindus. The kicker is that I most match up with the Catholics! Wow...imagine that. Some of you may say that the Catholic radio is getting to my head. I think that is kind of cool in a weird sort of way. Oh well, I am so anti-labels on religion that I dont really think it matters what I call myself. I just want to be a freakin' Christian! Nothing else...just a Christian. NO LABELS! Remember Ephesians 4:1-5? I posted on that earlier in a post called "How About Them Apples!" How about one faith??? How about living in unity as Christians?
Disclaimer: I don't think all of these religions are Christian based..so don't freak out that I think it doesn't matter at all what you belief. I do think that it is possible to be a Christian within some of these other religions...but we can talk about that later.

Your pizzle is piffle

At my place of employment, my boss has implemented a "word of the day." We have new big dry erase board, and he puts a word up everyday. We have to look it up, and he would like us to use it in sentences all day. Sometimes the words are pretty funny. Like pizzle. Now pizzle could also mean a whip (as you would see if you clicked on the link to see the definition.) So if you say "I am going to whip you with my pizzle," it is pretty darn funny. Oh what a great job I have! What other place could I be enriching my vocabulary with words like pizzle! Piffle was another word of the day, and I think that using pizzle and piffle in a sentence together sounds cool. It may not make much sense, but it is still fun. Give me some sentences! We could make this vocab class.

A few other things:

I AM GOING TO THE PISTONS/PACERS GAME!!!!!!!! GO PACERS! Oh how I love Scot Pollard! Steve Jackson is back too, so now we almost have the whole fightin' crew. I severly dislike those pistons...especially Ben Wallace...BLAH!


Did Jesus like to dance??

Hmmm...not something I thought about a lot. A friend of mine had a post about how Jesus could have turned the water into wine. It was a great and well thought out explanation, but I am pretty sure that is not how Jesus did it. In my mind he just says..."Hey water! We need some more stuff to drink! Turn to wine!!!," and it was so. It still sounded good, and gives you a good visual. Here is a little piece of the post from Asher's blog :

So now all we need is a static discharge. Sleight of hand doesn't even come into play anymore, because as it was stated, everyone's drunk. Except probably Jesus, I don't think he did that sort of thing. But I'll bet he liked to dance. Something like the moonwalk could build up a static discharge to polarize or electrolyze the water, creating, if only for an instant, hydronium ions (acidic water molecules) and hydroxide ions (basic water molecules).

I would have liked to see Jesus do the moonwalk...that would be super sweet! Still Asher...I don't think your explanation holds up, and I definately don't think that it is beneficial to prove the Bible with science.

Lastly, I am going to implement a "word of the day" for the end of my posts. Usually, it will be the word my boss uses, but today I have no word of the day because I am not at work! I am going to use my own. This is one of my favorite words, but Jonathan wouldn't let me use it as a word of the day because he said it couldnt be used in a sentence over and over. I think it could! It is so fun to say!! So here it goes!

I must tell you that Larknews.com is an awesome site. What is it you ask? It is a satirical website aimed at being at being “a good source for Christian news.” The articles that can be found within are quite humorous. The site was actually developed by a man name Joel Kilpatrick. If you in fact did click on his name, you would have found that Joel is actually a Christian man. I think that is what makes this site even more awesome. I wouldn’t think he is being blasphemous. I think he is making a good point, and it is funny! Here are some examples of stories he has written in the past! I encourage you to look at this site! Thank you Tyanna for introducing me to it.

There are many other great stories, like the first gay Bible, the cussing preacher, and so on. It is great!

On another note, there is also Landoverbaptist.org. It is also a great site; however I would say it goes a little over the top most of the time. It does have a store filled with amazing stuff. That makes me laugh, so I highly recommend checking that out. You can get shirts with slightly grotesque Bible verses on them and such the like. But here is just one example of a story you can find, and just from that, you can see the content is quite different, and could be considered offensive by some. I still love it, and thanks again Tyanna!
