the randomness that's in my head...

I don't think I mentioned this before...but I thought it was really sweet...and it almost brought a tear to my eye.

My sister is Iraq. She works in the office of a prison. She doesn't get off work until about 1 a.m. My sister is also married. Her husband is also in the army, however, they are in two totally different spots of the country. It is very rough on them. They miss each other. The other day, I got an e-mail from my sister...this is what it said:

just thought i would write u and tell u, i was walking back to my room at like 1 in the morning and when i got there nick was sitting on my door step. although i dont get anytime off of work. im still happy he made it here. well i will talk to u in a few days once nick goes back.

How sweet is that? I wonder if she cried when she saw him. I think I would. I'm so happy they get to spend a few days together!

She may get to come home soon! She's hoping by Christmas...I hope that's the case. She's realy fighting for it...and she's a tough cookie.

Since we are talking about my sister...maybe I'll put a picture up. That sounds fun...

If any of you know how short I am...just notice my sister...she's really short.

Alright...moving on.

In Iceland, they turned out all the lights in a city so everybody could look at the stars. Isn't that cool? I love looking at stars. It's one of my favorite things to do. Unfortunately, I don't get to do that very often. Stars don't make an appearance much in Broadripple...ha. If the sky is full of stars...and I'm talking to someone outside...I most of the time can't concentrate because I keep staring at the sky. It sucks that it's been cloudy about everytime I've been down to the Red. Oh well...so I guess the point of this is stars are cool. I wish Indianapolis would turn off all its lights...and force people to turn off their tvs...and make everybody go outside...and just stare. Anybody want to go on a midnight picnic with me...to the middle of nowhere...and look at the stars?

Wow, that was sort of random.

Something else random...

I still don't know what to dress up as for Halloween. Should I ask Brian to let me use the Elmo costume again? That was a crazy costume. It's not one that will be easily forgotton. Jessie is having her annual Halloween party...should be crazy times. The night before that, I'm doing a run with her...just for fun...Run Like Hell...and I want to dress up for that. I don't mind if it's awkward to run in...I really just plan on jogging it. I'm doing a race in the morning. A five-miler. I want to kick butt in that. It's the Pleasant Run Run...and that's the first road race I did when I started this running business a couple years ago. I hope to be about twenty minutes faster than I was that first year. Ha..isn't that crazy?

So yeah, give me ideas for a costume....please...

not sure what to think.

I just turned on the news...well, not really the news...it was the Today Show...

The fashion segment was on. Apparantly, 80's fashion is coming back in full force. The new styles are a bit "softer," though. Right. Has anybody looked at pictures from the 80's? Does it look like a decade we want to bring back in style? I mean, I love the 80's. The music was cool...the toys were cool...it was all in all a good time. Slap bracelets? YEAH! I wonder if it will soon be cool to tight roll my jeans. OH I HOPE SO! haha. Will mullets come back? That would be super...That's one of my favorite past times...hunting mullets. K...that's when you know I'm cool.

I just went to google...they had a cupcake for one of the Os. I think it's there birthday. Hope it's a good one google. I like you. Gmail is awesome. Blogger is pretty sweet too...well basically everything you do is sweet...I decided to check it out...guess I'm on top of things. I wished google a happy birthday last year. It was their 7th birthday.

see...

ha...good thing I use original wording. This is what I said last year about google:

I guess today is Google's 7th birthday. Be sure to send them a card. I like google. Why? I like their search engine...I like blogger...I like gmail...they are just sweet.

Sweet is a good word...and I'm glad google can be sweet.

So, I'm having a little bit of a struggle. I was totally planning on staying in town this weekend. Why? you ask...My cousin is having a deep fry party on Saturday. I missed it last year because I had to go out for somebody's birthday. Plus, Sunday is Monon Madness. What is that, you ask? It's just a bunch of running on the monon with a bunch of different people. I need to get a long run in...and I like long runs with lots of people better than I do long runs with no people. my cousin is probably reading this...and she will tell me to stay :).

My dad is going to Knoxville this weekend. You know what that means? He will have to drive through Lexington. I could hitch a free ride down there. That is significant since I drive a Jeep...and it's expensive to get anywhere. (thank God gas prices have gone down a little.) Soo...getting to Lexington means getting hang out with all those peeps down there...and possibly go CLIMBING! I talked to Wes, who is a climber down there...and he is going to the Lebowski Festival in Louisville on Friday...meeting up with Dana. He said I could ride with him up with that...and then ride with him to the Red Saturday...and maybe even Sunday. I really like climbing.

I'll figure it out today. I have to. My dad leaves tomorrow.

I wish people hadn't been sucked into myspace...and that people still read this blog. I'm too stubborn to post in both places. Haha.

I just did a spell check...did you know mullet is not in the dictionary?

of bad weather...bws workers who have not a clue about life...southside bars...and other such good things...

So, this weekend...I went down to Kentucky. I met up with Dana in Louisville and rode on down to the Red River Gorge. We were gonna go climbing...

We got there...it was starting to get dark, and we needed to get our tents up. Dana helped me. My tent was brand new and had never been put up. I'm no good at putting things together. Well, we put my rain fly on backwards. It was sort of funny. The vestibule was in the back instead of the front. It was covering a small lake that was forming.

At about 4 a.m., it started storming like none other. The tent held up, so that was good. Needless to say, we did no climbing this weekend.

I came back to indy on Saturday. Went out Saturday night to some good ole southside bars. Ha. That's always a good time. I saw not one cute guy. NOT ONE! I was amazed. I did see about 6 people from my high school though...

Sunday, Colt's game...went to BWs...here's a conversation that was had with a BW's worker...

ME: I would like to order 6 naked tenders, and I would like to buy an extra sauce
BW: Well, you can only get one sauce.
ME: You mean, I can't buy another one? I thought with naked tenders you just dipped them
BW: Oh, so you want a sauce with them and then a sauce on the side?
ME: Well, if there is sauce already on the chicken tenders, then no...but I thought you just dipped.
BW: You do, but it only comes with one.
ME: Well, can I buy another one?
BW: I don't know let me go ask
*another worker comes up*
Me: So can I get extra sauce?
other BW: yes but you have to pay extra.
Me: ok, that's what I want to do. Oh! and I would like to get a piece of chocolate cake...because I'll get that before the chicken right?
BW: No, all the food you order will go to the back of the line.
Me: Oh, last year, the people up front went and got it since the cake is precut.
BW: Well, I can try to do that...
Me: Nevermind...

Wow...maybe you had to be there for that...but it was a crazy little conversation.

I was sort of amazed.

Colts won though...and that's super duper.

Today, I was grading some quizzes... one of the questions was this:

Are the statements x^2=25 and x=5 equivalent?
*the answer is no...because x^2=25 gives you an answer of x=5 or x=-5...

somebody put "kind of" as the answer on their quiz. It made me chuckle.

Right...I'm out.

oh really?

I'm letting the tequilla thing drop. Mainly because I hate drama...and it has turned too dramatic. I'm not going to get paid for it. She keeps trying to justify why she drank it. Oh well...whatever. So is life. I can get some more sometime...OR maybe you could buy me some? :)

Sigh...the route I led...Sandy's ass cherry...not Sandy's ash tray. Thanks Wes for the clarification.

Tonight, I'm going to Chuck E. Cheese for my favorite child's b-day...Oh Chuck E. Cheese...I have spent too much time underneath your roof. I know all the songs that you have changed the words to. Yet, I'll never get away. Never... ever ever...dang. I may pull out a dance to the birthday song tonight. Everybody wants to see that. Mainly for laughter's purpose.

Wow, that last paragraph had no grammar at all...I'm good at that with these here blog posts. Maybe, one day, I'll write a post like it was a research paper. Good grammar and all.

I'm grading papers right now. It's hard for me to find the motivation to do it. If you want to help...you can.

I'm sorry that these posts suck butt. Sometimes, when I'm driving a long... I think about something good to talk about, but then...I forget.

I wonder about a lot of things...and then...they would be good to talk about...but then...I forget what I was wondering about.

random thoughts:

*I'm not big on chocolate...but I do love Snickers. They are good.

*Again, this blog sucks butt.

*What does suck butt even mean?

*Are you reading this?

*My mom invited me to a "puppyware" party tomorrow. What is that? Would I want to attend? REALLY? I sort of do...just to see the madness that is puppyware.

*I know a girl in Lexington that's having a birthday party for her dog tonight. I sort of wish I could go to that too.

*I hate math.

*It's getting cold outside. I like fall...but where's summer?? I bet it will peep its head around the corner one more time.

*people make me laugh.

*I'm done.

*Seriously...

good times

I went down to Kentucky this weekend to climb. I like it there. It's fun. I got to lead my first route!! Woohooo!!!

A guy was with us...Wes...and he likes to take pictures. It's cool, because I have pictures of my first lead climb. Yeppers. It was a fun little route...Sandy's ashtray as they so liked to call it...aka...lowered expectations. :)

So...here are the pictures wes took. You can find more of his work here.

Alright...so yeah... it was a great weekend. Got to see some Lexington peeps too. That's always good. I loves me my Lori Jo!

Went to Max and Erma's in Lexington last night. Had me a sunday...all you can eat sundays. Good stuff... I think I made it through 3. Or was it 4? It doesn't matter...other people's spoons kept making their way to my sunday.

Life is good...nothing new to say really...

I'm back in Indy...sitting in the computer lab...being sorta bored...so why don't you entertain me? Tell me something crazy...

Rain Rain Go Away...

I don't mind the rain...but not this stuff. It's been nonstop all week...and it's the freaking cold rain. I no like...I no like.

*****
So, I just got home...I go into the kitchen to put something in the fridge. I notice that someone has drank my whole bottle of Patron. OH HELL NO!!!! That's my off limits alcohol. That's my special baby. There was Cuervo right next to it. Why not drink that? So, a few weeks back, I noticed a bottle of my wine was gone...I was going to let it slide...but my Patron? That's not sliding. Do you think I have a right to be mad? I do...I mean, I won't be mad if it gets replaced immediatly. I guess I'll be taking all my alcohol out of the kitchen now. What's worse? She didn't even put the top back on when she was done...there's still a little bit left in the bottom...Now it's no good. Oh well, so is life.

*****

Today, I had to work in the computer lab at school. Keep in mind, my only job to do in there is tutor. I do not do any tech support at all. I would be more than happy to do some tech support, however, I do not have admin rights. Today, some genius locked the computer that's hooked to the printer. People can't print unless they long on to this print program. They couldn't log on because it was locked and only an admin or the user "printswipe" could unlock it. I went to the little computer office to let them know, but nobody was there. I go back to the lab, tell everybody sorry, they will have to go somewhere else to print. People were giving me the death stare. I promise. I felt a little weird. I couldn't do anything about it. I'm a TUTOR...I need not know anything about computers. I did not like.

*****

I went to the climbing gym tonight. I got to practice belaying. That was great. I need all the practice I can get with that. After that, I went over to Sarah's house. I had left some Hummus over there the other day. She made cookies. They were good. She even let me take some home. Thanks Sarah!!!! So Andrew (her son) is supposed to be in bed. He keeps yelling about he can't sleep. He then says he is hungry. Sarah tells him to go to sleep. He then says if he waits to long to eat, he's going to die. It made me laugh. Crazy kids.

*****
Did you know cotton balls give me chills? They do...it's sort of weird.

Oh Goodness...

It's been 5 years since 9/11. It doesn't feel like it...does it? Crazy. I still remember it as vividly as it was yesterday...what I did all day...who I walked out of buildings with...who I ate with...what we talked about in class...everything. I guess that's stuff you'll never forget.

Friday...I played Pictionary. I know your jealous...don't lie.

****

Saturday...I ran a mini-marathon in Bloomington, IN. It was the hardest race I have ever done. There was not one single flat part in the whole entire course. It was either uphill or downhill the whole entire way. OUCH!!!! Somehow or the other...I sitll managed to run my fastest mini time by 10 minutes!!! I can't wait to see what will happen on a flat course!

Here is me after the race thinking to myself...why in the world did I decide to run that???

******

Sunday...I went to opening night at the symphony with my mom. It was really cool. I like the symphony. There was a big reception beforehand because it was opening night. They had free margaritas! I love tequilla... They had free wine...and free food too...so yeah... I liked a lot...

******

After the symphony...I trotted on down to the South Side to watch the very first Colts game. I had not had BWs in forever. I forgot how good it was. Colts won...but it was close...I'm so excited it's football season again!!!!!! WOOOOOHOOO!

******

and now...I'm back at school :(

random bit of info...

I'm going to run in the Berbee Derby...how about you Thom???

So, at the end of October, I'm going to do a little 5k called Run Like Hell. It's the same day as the Pleasant Run Run...which I also plan on doing. The 5k will just be for fun...and I plan on running it with Jessie. You are supposed to dress up for this run. Any suggestions for costumes? Come on...throw them out there. Don't be shy.

For those of you who have facebook (and for those who don't)...it got pretty dang creepy this week. Don't you think? It became very stalker friendly overnight.

Tonight...I'm going to play Pictionairy. That's right...be jealous.

Some lady shot her husband because he killed her pet chicken. Be glad your day wasn't like his...or the chicken.

I want to do a little roll call...if you are reading this...please just raise your hand (or hit the comment button) and say HERE!

COLTS SUNDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did I tell you that the COLTS play on Sunday????

yep.

I'm out....

Seriously???

So, I'm sitting here working in the computer lab. In the computer lab, I help people with their Maple projects. Maple is a program that allows you to make various math functions and such the like. Calculus students have to do these projects. Everybody is doing their first project right now. All they have to do is follow the steps word for word. So, the first step is to type your name and your date. This is what it looks like:

> # your name and today's date

So, some kid needs help printing is maple project. I go to help him, and I notice that he has typed the line above EXACTLY as it is on his paper. He didn't put his own name...it made me chuckle...and I didn't correct him. I figured I'd give the teacher a chuckle too. SERIOUSLY???

****

Last night, I was driving. I was exiting the interstate. I went to stop at the light. It was wet outside. My car slid...did a complete 180. I was pretty sure it was going to flip over. It scared me a little. Luckily...it didn't flip over...and it didn't even go off the road. Jeeps can turn on a dime.

****

There's a possibility that a club my grandma belongs to is going to give me a huge chunk of what I need for Team in Training...more on that later...

****

joke for you: It came off my package of oatmeal today...

What has a lot of ears but does not hear?

Now go check the comments...do it...do it!!!!

woo...the weekend is over.

I went climbing. See...

It was good times. I want to get way better...so then maybe I can lead routes instead of top roping... Some day...some day...

Anyway...I am so bruised and scraped...my arm...my knees...my hands. I beat myself up. Some of it was probably needless, but I kept beating myself...dang rocks.

Had fun staying at Miguel's. I went down to Kentucky with the brian math...and a couple of his friends. His friends were cool, and we had a lot of fun hanging out. Climb during the day, drink beer at night. I am so lucky to have Brian as a friend. Not very many people get the chance to have an experienced climber get them started. I mean, I just started climbing this summer, and I've gotten to go down to the Red twice now and visit five different crags. I'm glad he's patient with me. Plus, he knows lots of people. I like meeting new people.

So yeah, good stuff. I'm running a mini-marathon this weekend. I hope my soreness from this past weekend goes away...

Other than that...life is good...
